H.E President Ashraf Ghani, First Vice President Amrullah Saleh, Acting Minister of Public Health Dr Majroh met with the ERADA Health Team on Saturday the first of May 2021. H.E. Amrullah Saleh, FVP, welcomed everyone; and H.E. President Ghani opened the meeting and sat the stage by focusing on the ongoing spike of the COVID19 cases in neighboring countries, e.g. India and the implication of the third wave of COVID19 for Afghanistan. Dr Naqib Safi on behalf of the health team of ERADA made a brief presentation which was followed by discussion and contribution by Dr Aman Shams, Dr Shams Rahman Shams, Dr Dawran Faizan, Dr Nyaesh, Dr Jamshid, and the team, shared some of their experiences and provided recommendations on the way forward for Afghanistan. All recommendations were welcomed by HE President and the government and advised relevant institutions on its implementation. In addition, H.E. President Ghani advised Minister of Health to establish regular consultation with the ERADA Health Team and Afghan experts abroad on issues of national public health priorities.
Mr. Ghulam Isaczai of ERADA raised the issue of drought and its impact on people’s livelihood in Afghanistan and suggested that ERADA can work with the government and provide technical advice on the matter, which was welcomed by H.E. President Ghani and a follow-up on the issue will be made in coming weeks.
