Experts for Relief and Development of Afghanistan (ERADA), as an impartial, non-political and independent umbrella organization of the Afghan Diaspora, is extremely concerned by evolving developments in Afghanistan including dire humanitarian needs, and calls on all sides to exercise utmost restraint and to work towards a comprehensive and sustainable peaceful resolution of the crisis and to create conditions that are conducive to stability, inclusiveness, rule of law and respect for all rights of Afghan population. ERADA is deeply disturbed that Afghan men, women, and children are suffering and forced to flee their homes due to conflict in pursuit of safety, leaving behind their homes and belongings to only find themselves in open air without shelter, water, and food. ERADA also calls on all governments, the UN system and aid organizations to respond to the escalating humanitarian crisis rapidly and generously, which has been further compounded by the ongoing drought and the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. Parties to the conflict are responsible under the international humanitarian law to protect civilians and to ensure unhindered access for humanitarian actors to deliver aid to those most in need.” ERADA stands ready to offer its expertise and to work with all concerned to ensure effective and timely delivery of humanitarian assistance to those in need, and to mobilize Afghan diaspora expertise in support of Afghanistan’s long term sustainable development efforts”
